Exploring Eye Care Through Technology

Our team values patient education. Many of our technologies help us visualize your eye health in real time, fostering a more informative experience. Whether you want to learn more about how dry eye affects your vision or get the right fit for your contact lenses, we can help.
We can better understand your vision and any potential concerns by seeing magnified views of your eye structures. Contact us to schedule your appointment today and experience our technology for yourself.
Going Beyond the Basics
Eye exams can sometimes scratch the surface, but at Karns Vision Center, our technology helps us go beyond the basics to provide a deeper look at your eye health.
Our equipment helps us detect eye diseases and other conditions, like glaucoma and macular degeneration. This proactive approach is key to preserving your vision for years to come.
Our Contact Lens Technology
Looking to get new contact lenses? We can help you find a safe and comfortable fit. Through our comprehensive contact lens exams, we also use technology to get the fit just right:
- Topcon CA-800 Corneal Topography: This instrument creates a 3D map of your cornea to help us get the right fit for your contact lenses, helping to maximize comfort and vision correction.
- Anterior Segment OCT 3D OCT-1 Maestro: This technology helps provide a detailed 3D image of your entire front eye segment to fit complex prescriptions or irregular corneas.
Our Diagnostic Technology
When you visit us for your appointment, you can expect more than a simple eye exam. We implement technology throughout our eye care services to help us address potential eye diseases or other issues.
We’re always looking for new ways to evolve and discover new ways to help preserve your eye health and vision.
Optos Silverstone
The Optos Silverstone device goes beyond typical retinal exams, capturing a panoramic image of the entire back of the eye in a single scan. The wider view allows for earlier detection of potential issues, like macular degeneration or glaucoma, and helps us gain a more thorough evaluation of your eye health.
NCT (Non-Contact Tonometry)
An air puff test, NCT measures your eye pressure, a crucial step in diagnosing glaucoma and other conditions. Unlike traditional methods, NCT can help eliminate the need for contact with the eye, providing a more comfortable experience.
Fundus Photography & Visual Field Testing
High-resolution pictures of your retina can provide a detailed record of your eye health, allowing us to track changes over time and monitor potential issues. Visual field testing, a noninvasive test that assesses your peripheral vision, helps identify potential blind spots and diagnose conditions like glaucoma.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT imaging can provide a detailed cross-sectional view of your retina and other eye structures, allowing for early detection and monitoring of eye diseases like macular degeneration and glaucoma.
OCT can act as an ultrasound for your eye, providing a high-resolution image of the internal layers.
Dry Eye & Other Technology
We also offer a full range of technology to help address dry eye concerns and other issues, like digital eye strain.
Whatever your eye care needs are, the collaborative approach at Karns Vision Center and our wide range of technologies can help.
OptiLIGHT by Lumenis
OptiLIGHT by Lumenis is a light-based, non-invasive treatment done in the area below the eyes to manage dry eye. The first and only IPL FDA-approved for dry eye management.
The treatment is safe, gentle, and is backed by more than 20 clinical studies.
OptiLIGHT uses precise pulses of light to reduce the inflammation that is typically associated with dry eye disease, improve tear break-up time, and increase meibomian gland functionality.
Neurolens
Neurolens contoured prism eyeglass lenses are designed to address eye misalignment and can help support the unique visual demands of busy digital lives. They differ from traditional prescription lenses by supporting how your eyes work together.
Traditional glasses might use prisms to correct eye alignment issues. However, these prisms are typically one-size-fits-all. Instead, Neurolenses incorporate contoured prisms. These custom-designed prisms vary in power across the lens surface, providing a more precise correction for misalignment at different viewing distances.
Neurolens glasses consider your digital comfort by helping to address the fundamental cause of your digital eye strain.
Topography & Specular Microscopy
Corneal topography creates a detailed map of the cornea’s surface, crucial for fitting specialty contact lenses and diagnosing corneal conditions like keratoconus. Specular microscopy examines the cornea’s inner surface, helping us diagnose dry eyes and other corneal conditions.
Pachymetry
Pachymetry is a quick test that measures the thickness of your cornea—this is crucial for contact lens fittings and pre-surgical assessments.
